Grafito began as a study of how graphene-based composite materials could influence the appearance and construction of a future sailing yacht.
Graphene is exceptionally light, strong, flexible, and conductive. Within the concept, these qualities are used to imagine a lighter structure with improved corrosion resistance and greater freedom in the development of large, clean exterior surfaces.
The yacht is defined by a dark monolithic body, sharp transitions, and illuminated deck graphics. The lighting pattern is based on the visual rhythm of musical notation, turning the deck into a changing composition after sunset.
Grafito was developed as a speculative exterior design study.
